Sustainability
Reducing waste and overproduction in a way that traditional manufacturing can’t
Our Sustainability Values
General sustainability statement
Sustainability is a big deal to us at Fruit of the Room. We're always working to improve how we do things so we can bring you high-quality products while being kinder to the planet.
Let's face it: the apparel industry has a major sustainability problem. Many big companies crank out thousands of new items every week, and a shocking 21% of those textiles never even get sold. All that unsold stock often ends up in an unknown place.
That's where we come in.
We Make It Just for You
At Fruit of the Room, we make things differently. We work with on-demand suppliers, which means we only produce an item once you've placed your order. This way, we avoid textile waste from overproduction. Our printing partners use high-quality tech that creates almost no wastewater and uses less energy than standard printers.
Printing and Embroidery
Direct-to-Garment (DTG) Printing
This method is like printing on paper, but on clothing! Our suppliers use eco-friendly Kornit printers that generate almost zero wastewater and use less energy. The inks we use are Oeko-Texâ„¢ certified, which means they're vegan, water-based, and free of harmful chemicals. Our suppliers also make sure to properly dispose of any leftover ink.
Embroidery
Some of our products are embroidered with threads made from 100% recycled polyester. These threads are also Oeko-Texâ„¢ certified and safe for everyone. Embroidery is a great choice because it's more durable than printing and produces even less waste since there's no ink residue.

Eco-Friendly Product Collection
We're proud to offer an eco-friendly collection of items made from at least 70% organic or recycled materials. To make sure our products meet these standards, we get certificates from our suppliers. Our suppliers only accept GOTS or OCS certificates for organic materials and GRS or RCS certificates for recycled materials. For our beauty products, our suppliers only accept the Ecocert COSMOS certificate to prove they're natural.
A Quick Word on Production Time
Because we make each item on-demand, it takes a little time to create and send your order. We know you're excited to get your new gear, but this process helps us take care of both you and the planet we all share.
